Once upon a time there lived a sloth named Theodore. He spent all his time hanging and swinging in the trees and vines. He never felt like doing anything, and food just jumped right into his mouth. His life was comfy and easy but it lacked some thrill. Bored to death, Theodore decided to go to the rainforest fairy and ask her to turn him into a superhero.
“Dear fairy, please, help me. I’m sick and tired of just lying around in this tree all day, digesting a single leaf for thirty long days, and picking my nose all the time,” groaned Theodore.
“So what would you rather do? Every animal in the jungle plays its own role. Lions chase their meal, birds fly in the sky... and you, you… rest in the trees all day long. Aren’t you happy to have such a nice and peaceful life?” said the fairy.
“What’s the fun if I can’t move faster than three metres in an hour? The highlight of my life is going to the loo once a week,” complained Theodore. “Please, make me a superhero! I would be able to help animals in the rainforest out of trouble. That would make me feel much better.”
“Well, I don’t know, Theodore. You were born a sloth. It’s not your nature to do heroic things. But if you really long for a change…” the fairy took pity on him and waved her magic wand.
“I will make you a superhero for one day and you can try it out. When you wake up in the morning, you will have superpowers.”
Theodore was so excited for the dawn that he could not sleep.
