A long time ago, there lived a black cougar, deep in the jungles of Mexico. Incredibly strong, he kept all the animals in fear. And he was well aware of it so he would often scare them for fun. Sometimes he would roar to frighten them, and sometimes he would sneak through the branches of the trees and jump down right next to one of his fearful neighbours. They would always take flight at once. The cougar enjoyed all his pranks, but the other animals had had enough.
One day, the cougar was running across the grasslands when he tripped over the tiny house of a little cricket, destroying it completely. The brave cricket scolded the cougar at once: “Do you think that was nice of you? We are all fed up with this stupid behaviour of yours!”
“How dare you talk to me like that?” The cougar’s loud roar spread all over the grasslands. “Such a tiny, meaningless insect won’t tell me how to behave!
But the little cricket let out a deafening squeak from the top of his lungs: “You’ve crushed my house to splinters! You will pay for all the nasty things you have done to us!”
The cougar just laughed: “Get out of my way! I have bigger fish to fry!”
But the cricket didn’t mean to give up this easily. “Alright, you think you’re so brave and strong? We are having a fight then! Tomorrow, this time and place. Call together your army and I will call mine. We’ll see who wins.” The cougar agreed without hesitation. He couldn’t imagine this tiny little bug could defeat him.
