Mrs Stiltskin parked in front of the school so her son could get out of the car. She waved him off with a smile and drove to work. Mrs Stiltskin’s son's name was Rumpel. And he was frowning, just as he did every morning.
He hated school. Well, in truth he liked school and learning. But Rumpel Stiltskin was probably the only kid in the world that hated breaks. And it was all because of his name. Every day he was angry with his parents. If he had to be called Stiltskin, why did they have to choose the name Rumpel?
Rumpelstiltskin is a fairytale character. You may know him as the evil elf who teaches a nice girl to weave golden threads out of straw. But as a reward, he wants to get the girl to marry him, so he gives her a task - to guess his name. That's why throughout the story he keeps shouting, "If you guess my name, I don't want you, but if you can't guess it, I'll take you."
Guess what the kids at school were shouting at our Rumpel? For the third year, over every recess. That's right..
The whole class chanted at him: "If you can guess my name, I don't want you, but if you can't guess it, I'll take you! My name is Rumpelstiltskin!"
And then everyone laughed, led by Lucas Rabitt, who actually came up with the idea. Only Susan Harris and Mark Clarke never joined their classmates. On the contrary, they frowned at the other children when they acted like that.
